
Pusat Pengajian Pembangunan Ungku Aziz (UAC), Universiti Malaya (UM) dengan kerjasama Centre for Malaysian Studies (CMS), Soka University telah menganjurkan Seminar Memperingati Legasi Profesor Diraja Ungku Aziz bertemakan “Education, Development, and Human Dignity: The Legacy of Ungku Aziz and the Future of Malaysia–Japan Academic Cooperation” pada 7–8 Julai 2026 di Hachioji, Tokyo, Jepun. Seminar antarabangsa ini menghimpunkan lebih 60 peserta dan 20 pembentang dari Malaysia dan Jepun, melibatkan lima institusi akademik Malaysia, bagi membincangkan kerelevanan pemikiran Profesor Diraja Ungku Abdul Aziz dalam pembangunan insan, pembasmian kemiskinan, pendidikan dan pembangunan sosioekonomi, sekali gus memperkukuh kerjasama akademik serta jaringan penyelidikan antara kedua-dua negara.
Sempena seminar tersebut, Pameran Khas Memperingati Legasi Profesor Diraja Ungku Abdul Aziz turut diadakan bagi memperkenalkan sumbangan beliau kepada masyarakat antarabangsa melalui koleksi penerbitan, gambar arkib dan dokumen sejarah. Pameran telah dirasmikan oleh TYT Dato' Ahmad Rozian Abdul Ghani, Duta Besar Malaysia ke Jepun, manakala seminar menampilkan Dato' Seri Mustapha Mohamed, Penasihat UAC, sebagai penceramah utama. Inisiatif ini mencerminkan komitmen UAC, Soka University dan rakan strategik dalam memelihara legasi Profesor Diraja Ungku Abdul Aziz serta memperluas kerjasama akademik Malaysia–Jepun demi manfaat komuniti akademik global.
The Ungku Aziz Centre for Development Studies (UAC), Universiti Malaya (UM), in collaboration with the Centre for Malaysian Studies (CMS), Soka University, successfully organised the Commemorative Seminar on the Legacy of Royal Professor Ungku Abdul Aziz under the theme “Education, Development, and Human Dignity: The Legacy of Ungku Aziz and the Future of Malaysia–Japan Academic Cooperation” from 7–8 July 2026 in Hachioji, Tokyo, Japan. The international seminar brought together more than 60 participants and 20 presenters from Malaysia and Japan, representing five Malaysian institutions, to discuss the enduring relevance of Royal Professor Ungku Abdul Aziz’s ideas on human development, poverty eradication, education, and socio-economic development, while strengthening academic collaboration and research networks between the two countries.
Held alongside the seminar was the Special Exhibition on the Legacy of Royal Professor Ungku Abdul Aziz, showcasing his scholarly publications, archival photographs, and historical documents to introduce his intellectual contributions to an international audience. The exhibition was officially inaugurated by H.E. Dato' Ahmad Rozian Abd. Ghani, Ambassador of Malaysia to Japan, while the seminar featured Dato' Seri Mustapha Mohamed, Advisor to UAC, as the keynote speaker. The programme reflects the shared commitment of UAC, Soka University, and their strategic partners to preserving Royal Professor Ungku Abdul Aziz’s legacy and advancing Malaysia–Japan academic cooperation for the benefit of the global scholarly community.
