INTERNSHIP WITH US

Internship Opportunities at the Ungku Aziz Centre for Development Studies (UAC), Universiti Malaya.

 

The Ungku Aziz Centre for Development Studies (UAC) at Universiti Malaya invites motivated and enthusiastic individuals to apply for internship placements with us.

 

UAC is a multidisciplinary research centre committed to advancing development studies, public policy discourse, poverty and inequality research, social well-being, and community engagement. The Centre plays an active role in research, knowledge dissemination, policy discussions, and public outreach, in line with the legacy and intellectual contributions of Professor Diraja Ungku Aziz.

 



1.0       INTERNSHIP SCOPE AND RESPONSIBILITIES 


Interns at UAC will be exposed to a wide range of activities and may be involved in:

 

  1. Assisting in research and documentation activities, including data compilation, literature review, report preparation, and archival work.
  2. Supporting the planning and coordination of seminars, public lectures, workshops, forums, and outreach programmes.
  3. Assisting in administrative and programme management tasks related to UAC’s core functions.
  4. Contributing to community engagement and development-related initiatives.
  5. Supporting UAC’s visibility and communications, including:
  • Managing and updating social media content.
  • Assisting in the preparation of UAC bulletins, newsletters, posters, and basic publications.
  • Documenting events through writing, photography, or basic media support.
  • Assisting in maintaining UAC’s online presence and promotional materials.

 

All tasks will be assigned based on suitability, interest, and learning objectives, under the supervision of the UAC Director and officers.

 

2.0       WHAT INTERNS WILL GAIN

 

Through this internship, participants will:

 

  1. Gain practical experience in a professional academic and research environment.
  2. Develop transferable skills such as communication, research support, coordination, teamwork, and digital content management.
  3. Enhance understanding of development issues, public policy, and institutional operations.
  4. Build professional confidence and exposure relevant to future employment or academic pursuits.

 

3.0       INTERNSHIP PERIOD

 

Internship placements are open throughout the year, with flexible durations, subject to UAC’s availability and the applicant’s institutional or personal requirements.

 

4.0       WHO SHOULD APPLY

 

This internship is open to individuals with an interest in:

 

  1. Development studies, social sciences, public policy, or related fields
  2. Research support, programme coordination, and academic engagement
  3. Communications, media, content creation, and institutional visibility

 

Applicants should be proactive, responsible, and willing to learn in a team-based environment.
